From the conceptual stage of our ‘Welcome Home’ campaign for Fiji Airways, we had said there would be no better ambassador for Fiji than the most famous surfer of all time, Kelly Slater. We knew that Fiji had been his second home for much of his pro career and a place that he goes to both train and unwind. It was chased with his people for months and although a solid ‘no’ was never received, it was looking unlikely around his tight schedule. Then one day after our film crew have wrapped something and are in a car to the airport, we get the call from the client to turn around and head to Tavarua ASAP. No real script or plan, just shot in the moment and straight from the heart. The sentiment and his love for Fiji were exactly as we hoped and the video was incredibly well received. A true gent.
